Hello!
My name is Umut Eren Yıldız, and I am a passionate mining engineering student at Middle East Technical University in Ankara, Turkey. My journey in this field has been fueled by a deep interest in the innovative technologies that can be integrated into the mining industry, aiming to make significant contributions and advancements. I have had the privilege of gaining hands-on experience through multiple internships at Meta Nickel-Cobalt Co. and the General Directorate of Mineral Research and Exploration. These opportunities have allowed me to apply my academic knowledge in real-world settings and further ignite my passion for mining engineering.
My Story
Originally from Istanbul, I completed my high school education at Bahçelievler Anadolu Lisesi before moving to Ankara for my university studies. Now in my fourth year at METU, I am more determined than ever to make a meaningful impact in the mining industry. I am particularly interested in exploring new applications of mining technology, with a strong commitment to ethical practices, worker safety, and environmental responsibility.
My aspirations are driven by a desire to become a distinguished engineer who prioritizes the well-being of people and the planet. I believe that engineering, when done right, can lead to remarkable advancements while maintaining ethical boundaries.
Outside of my academic and professional pursuits, I enjoy playing volleyball, staying active through various sports, and going for walks. I also have a passion for music and enjoy playing instruments and drawing in my free time.
